November 2018

Pastor Matt

Dear Sandy Creek Faith Family,

November is the month we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Indeed, we have so many reasons to give thanks to the Lord. He remains faithful to our church family as he shepherds us through a season of discernment and seeking His purposes for His body. In it all, I have been encouraged by the commitment of the family to remain focused on the head of the church, that is Jesus Christ. Even as we concentrate on the health of the faith family, we continue an emphasis on the Great Commission; a call to make disciples.

We give thanks for faithful sisters in the church. The women’s ministry hosted another successful event with Preparing your Heart and Home for the Holidays. I give thanks to the Lord for the ladies who invested their prayers, time, and material resources to create a special opportunity to encourage the women of our community to grow in their devotion and godliness. I heard many positive comments about the event and know it brought about new friendships that provide an opportunity for continuing spiritual encouragement and growth. This is an excellent example of members of the body using their gifts as part of the body to bring glory to God.

We give thanks for an occasion for fellowship. I will serve as the revival speaker for Amelia Baptist Church (in the village) on the evenings of November 9th, 10th at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday morning on the 11th at 11 a.m. This is an excellent opportunity to fellowship with a like-minded body of believers who share a gospel-driven concern for our community. Each evening offers special musical worship followed by biblical teaching to shape our attitude and outlook through a deliberate focus on the supremacy and centrality of Jesus Christ. Your partnership in this time of intentional worship would be a great encouragement to me and our brothers and sisters at Amelia Baptist Church.

We give thanks because this season is filled with opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ and grow in our knowledge of Him. You will certainly encounter family members who need the hope that is found only in Jesus. By reflecting your love for God by loving people, you just may encounter an opportunity to share the story of how Jesus has been part of your life this past year! We also have a mission trip planned to travel to the processing center for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Please consider joining the team for a day of deliberate work to carry the gospel around the globe. Details are in the connection center or you can reach out to my bride, Erin (434-509-0125).

In it all, I pray you would join me in prayerfully thanking the Lord for His faithfulness to Sandy Creek Baptist Church and give thanks for all the gracious proofs of His continuing goodness.
