Dear Sandy Creek Faith Family,
We’ve done a great job starting off the new year with awesome plans to see our community influenced by the Good News of Jesus Christ. Now it is time to turn these plans to action. So, I want to open by thanking the committed servants who have seized the opportunity to serve on teams that do a great variety of ministry, e.g. care for grieving families, encourage fellowship through hospitality, plan missions, and steward the resources of the Church, and many more. The diverse, but shared, labor of our faith family is a mark of Paul’s description of the church. He wrote “For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ.” (1 Cor 12:12, ESV). Our diverse work is striving towards one aim; calling people to respond to the love of Jesus Christ.
If you are not yet engaged, now is the time. The Lord desires to use each part of His body to accomplish His purpose. Please do not delay and wait for that personal invitation. The Lord has already called you into His family, which means He desires to use you! There is not a single part of the church that is “non-essential”. We have some awesome ministries that unfold through Sandy Creek. Guys, we have the Kids Outdoor Zone (KOZ) that uses outdoor skills to minister to young men and boys. Maybe you would consider traveling this summer with the mission team to Huntersville, WV! Of course, we are excitedly looking forward to our summer Vacation Bible School. This is an excellent chance to carry out ministry right here at home. The opportunities are too numerous to list here. Regardless of the opportunity, our tasks as a church is to “equip the saints for the work of the ministry” (Eph 4:12a, ESV). So, please let me know how I can encourage you to serve.
We have a spectacular upcoming event planned at Sandy Creek for the month of February, The Inseparable Marriage Weekend (February 15th-16th). The Inseparable Marriage Weekend features a nationally-known speaker, author, and marriage counselor (Dr. David Clarke) who will share biblical truth to teach practical skills to enrich your marriage. I cannot express how excited I am to see God shape and influence families in our community. I also recognize there is nothing more aggravating to the deceiver than challenging his attempt to upend the family. It was after all, the very institution he attacked first in the garden. Be in prayer that God will use this event to call families to himself and build marriages that display His glory. You can learn more by checking out www.visitsandycreek.org/marriage.
I am excited about the upcoming year and the direction the Lord is leading! Most of all, I look forward to serving next to you!
